LNG: Not just to have but to exploit it

Today, 22 countries export LNG and 48 import, with Asia remaining the largest consumer, forcing Europe to compete for high-priced cargoes. The dynamics of liquefaction are being strengthened by new investments that will add about €230 billion. cubic meters (Bcm) by 2030, with the US, Qatar and Australia leading the way, which confirms that energy security is now polycentric and inextricably linked to geopolitical competition.

The value lies not in the largest reserves, but in the predictability and commercialization with US LNG offering an internal rate of return and return on investment that Russia cannot guarantee. However, for Europe this means that energy security is bought at a high cost, with prices remaining stable at levels that burden the consumer economically and politically.
